Call to Action #15 - Aboriginal Languages Commissioner

6 years after its release, I am finally digging into the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 calls to action. There are 78 days left in the year and the goal is to read and reflect on at least one call to action daily for the remainder of the year. Thank you for joining me on this journey. May our endeavour together be a catalyst for lasting progress and affect meaningful change in Canada.

The 15th call to action in the Language and Culture section, is:

“15. We call upon the federal government to appoint, in consultation with Aboriginal groups, an Aboriginal Languages Commissioner. The commissioner should help promote Aboriginal languages and report on the adequacy of federal funding of Aboriginal-languages initiatives.”
